The light created by the colour and the relationship between the forms and the canvas edges are both significant to my pictures. It’s not about an ephemeral light its constant/still; it comes from the form: a soft inner light. I want my pictures to be harmonious, cohesive so everything that makes up the painting works together.

Drawing is important to me and is a crucial part of my practice. Painting from drawings has allowed me to detach from the literal representation and instead focus on an idea about my perception.

My inspiration comes from seeing beauty in the ordinary and poetic relationships between objects. I like to find a quiet spot to work from …...  perhaps where my mind can be untroubled in order for me to be able to focus on looking and thinking/feeling. Like meditation this actually extracts me from the everyday.
